frankicho
Hi there I live in Australia and am curious to know the 3DS max annual cost in the states. Thank you
numerobis
Even if they try to hide the much lower prices in the US you can use a proxy server to get an US IP and then you can access the web store yourself, like this one: http://boomproxy.com/ (untick 'use scripts' and 'use objects'). The US store lists it with $1,470 for annual subscription ($3765 for perpetual license) ... Australia = $1,920.55 (+30,6%) .... Europe = 2,092.19$ /year (+42,3%) Edited August 9, 2014 by numerobis

numerobis
I think the Desktop Subscription model is the beginning of the total rip-off... The "old" subcription model (Maintainance Subscription) is still the best way i think (unless you're planning to use Max only for a few months - or only for the next 4 years based on the annual renewal term ), especially when you have an upgradable version. And there are upgrade discounts of 20-30% in the first months if you upgrade with subscription. So if you do the math you will see that the new shiny desktop Subscription model gets much more expensive in the long term: after maybe 5 years when you compare it to the full version and around 3 years when you start with an upgrade (without discount). After 10 years you will have paid almost 50% more! And what we are comparing here is buying vs leasing!!! You own nothing after the Desktop Subscription ends! When you buy it, you can use it as long as you want after cancelling subscription (if it works on your new systems). And you have a license that you can sell if you need to - at least here in Europe.
