scostumatu
Hi all So the issue is..... I have a project in which i have been provided with a 3D exterior model and I also have been supplied with site pics - im required to do a photomontage. The lens used was a 17-35mm lens zoomed all the way out. So ive done the perspective match in 3DS using a site pic which was taken approx 45 degrees and 30 metres from subject. All looks good and well but it does look well out of scale and when i match the width of the site, it looks great but the length of the model looks a little short as to where it will be built. So does this mean when doing a perspective match, I used a 35mm camera settings and change the camera lens within 3DS to 17mm to match the real camera? Something isnt quiet right and im trying to figure it out Thanks
Corey Beaulieu
The best you can do matching a lens is to match every aspect of the physical camera with your 3D camera. I would do a small bit of research and double check if you can the camera used because many cameras out there use what is called a crop sensor. I have a Nikon, for example, that has a crop of 1.5-ish which means as it records an 18mm lens, I need to use 27mm in order to match it. Other than that, I think you have approached the problem right by starting from the approximate place that the image was taken and then tweaking from there. Have you ever used the Perspective Match tools in 2014? they are great and can make lie easy. You can even enter into 2D zoom mode in order to adjust things in a very small way. I hope that helps.
