Scott Schroeder Posted August 23, 2014 Share Posted August 23, 2014 It allows you to render the objects only inside that sphere. It's useful when you have only one or a few objects moving through a scene, and you need say Brute Force GI to avoid flickering, and you don't want to matte everything. You render your scene as normal (without the moving object of course) with saved imaps. Then unhide your moving object, put a sphere around it, link the sphere to the object so it follows it, then render another pass with brute force GI.
