branskyj
Hi all, I just started learning how to use State Sets in 3DS Max at work, have been following several YouTube tutorials and just encountered a strange problem- the thumbnails in the Compositor View remain black. Sometimes they would display what is in the scene but more often than not they would be black. I tried the refreshing button from the Compositor View many times- no success. The state sets are rendering fine though (that is when I use the "Render selected sets function). I am using 3DS Max 2014 SP5 but the same issue is in 3DS Max 2015 as well. P.S. Here is a really funny thing- if I set my render outputs to be saved in any random directory on my HDD and then hit refresh the thumbnails will remain black. If I set the render outputs to but one particular folder which is on my desktop and then hit refresh the thumbnails get updated correctly with whatever is in the scene. And I haven't even save the .max file anywhere yet. It's not like it's looking for a link between the .max file and the render outputs. Also another problem- when I try to nest a state set into another state set I get different error messages from Max (one is "Unhanded exception has occurred in your application" and the other I didn't even bother screenshoting). Although I remember being able to nest layers just 2 days ago... So confusing. I read a lot about how picky State Sets could be be maybe it's just me doing something wrong here. Any idea guys? Thank you.
