MJL Imaging
Hey all, give me some thoughts on this one. I still have some work to do, but want an outside look at it. I don't have any design input on this one, it's for a realtor I'm working with. How's the VIZ end of it looking. How can I improve it? http://www.mjl-imaging.com/Siano/103104Progress.jpg thanks ahead.
trhoads
The house looks great. I like the foreground trees and plantings. The grass is a little too saturated for my eye, and the attempt to dirty up the driveway is not really working. If it is new construction, not sure since it looks like a big house grew out of the little house, let the driveway be nice and clean, like everything else. The background sky is ok, but a little distracting, the clouds seem to prominent. I do like the overall composition, and look forward to seeing the end product. bully712
Is this a single resident house? If so, I would get lost in it.. It looks like two different buildings beside each other. The detailing between the two do not match, making it look like two. For example: The circular window is larger on the smaller building then the larger one. Also the windows are at a different scale. I feel they should be consistant, making look as one. I would scale down the map on the driveway, and not make it so dirty looking... It's a great start!! keep posting
Chewbacca
you may want to try using simpler / cleaner map for your driveway and then use the burn tool in Photoshop set at low exposure (5-20%) to give the impression of a tire path. Nice image overall.
MJL Imaging
Thanks for the relpies, I appreciate it. About the driveway, I'm having a bit of trouble. I need to create a convincing gravel driveway, and haven't been able to do so yet. Any ideas?
Shishok
try using displacement for driveway and grass. also your background trees looks realy flat, are they 2d? and increace contrast of sky, because they look too dark, at least for me. MJL Imaging
Shishok...I should have mentioned it previously, but I'm using VIZ4 so I can't displace my driveway the way you can with MAX 6 or others. Or can I? I'll have to see what the VIZ4 displace modifier does. As for the background trees, they're RPCs(2.0) yeah, they are flat. What am I doing wrong with them? I'm always finding my images are too dark or saturated. especially for printing, does anyone else have this problem, and how do you deal with it? I usually bump it all up in Photoshop. Brian Cassil
There are a few things I really like about this mainly the lighting angle and the composition and the way you've positioned the foliage in the foreground. It does seem like your house is hugging the left side of the image to closely though. There are a couple of things you can do to make the foliage look more lively. add more contrast to them the individual plants and from plant to plant, darker in front and lighter in back. This will give your image more depth as well as making the forground and background more lively. Your sky also seems to be a little flat and lacking perspective, try taking some photos and creating a new one with clouds that descend into the background. tcorbett
Looks pretty good. My only response would be that the first thing my eye catches is some serious patterning going on with your textures, namely the roof, the grass, and especially the driveway. A supersampler might help get rid of that roof moire. As for the driveway texture maybe try switching to a procedural map, such as "cellular" rather than the image of the pebbles. Finally, if you have Photoshop CS, try the "Auto Color" tool. It's just a very small adjustment to the color, but it does a nice job of balancing the shot a little more.
