Devin Johnston
My server died and it needs to be replaced, I want to get something that will meet the needs of a 110 node render farm for the next 5+ years. The one I had was a Raid 5 with 2 TB of space, the size was adequate but it was an older BIM server we repurposed so if there's something more appropriate for my uses I'd like to get that. Any advice is welcome, thanks.
thobiasthobiasas
Can you please tell me what config did you have, and if it managed the load ? I suggest you buy IBM server with E5-2620V2 processor, x3650 M4 Don’t know how much memory you need, but I think You will need to add some 00D5036 . Do you need to have fast SAS 10K drives or slower 7,2K SATA ? To get RAID 5 additionally with 512MB Flash memory for the controller you will need to add 81Y4487. But i'd opt to use RAID 10 for max performance.

RyderSK
110 PC units ?? Is that not typo ? If so NAS with both Sata6 and as many aggregated links possible (4+, ideally with extendable port cards), so some of those top-tier models (will cost as workstation alone). I presume if you want more universal server than simply for files you might build it, but I would not do it in one machine.
