nemotoad
Hi guys The reflection for these objects is brighter than the objects themselves. It's a very simple scene. Basically two boxes and a vray sun/sky. One box is a pure mirror, the other box is a metal with glossiness down to .55 . I attached a couple of images. Clamp output and subpixel mapping are on there. It's got nothing to do with GI or AA, The problem goes away when I move the vray sun, and can be replicated using a plain direct light.
Corey Beaulieu
What were you expecting? Your Box is not reflecting itself, it is reflecting the sun, which is much brighter.
nemotoad
Thanks for the reply champ. I would expect both the reflection on the glass and the object casting that reflection to be equivalent.
Corey Beaulieu
Then post your question in a coherent manor, Champ. Have you looked at the passes involved? Seen what the difference between a Specular pass and Reflection pass are? Your 0.55 glossiness is allowing a reflection to blur across it's surface while Glass and perfect mirror do not. These will allow the light to pass through and the the reflection to be directly proportional to the angle of viewing.
Chris MacDonald
Corey is right, it's the box reflecting the sun/bright part of the sky. I don't really know how else to word it.
