heni30
Same scene is rendering 30% faster on my i7 920 than on my i7 4770k. Both machines have dymamic memory set at 6000. Win. resource monitor small CPU window (hor blue line) on the right showed the 920 cpu at 70% for the duration of render while the 4770k cpu was at 20% . ???? Task manager window showed 100% for both. The windows performance experience is rating the processor 920 at 7.4; the 4770k is rated at 5.1. Any idea what might be causing this? Any programs you might recommend to accurately gauge cpu performance? Thanks. Edited October 26, 2014 by heni30

notamondayfan
What about the other hardware spec? Ram, HD, etc? Also is it the same result on another scene?

heni30
Same issue with 2 different scenes. Here are systems specs. For some reason the cpu score is lower for the 4770k??? Edited October 27, 2014 by heni30
numerobis
The 4770K should have an almost 70% higher multicore and 75% higher single core performance. So i think there must be something wrong with your setup... Did you check your Bios settings? Is this a clean windows installation with all drivers? (but i think this is so far off, this can't be a driver issue...) Edited October 27, 2014 by numerobis
Zdravko Barisic
Maybe your CPU cooler is not placed properly, so CPU is throttling all the time? What is your CPU temps? Also, HT is maybe disabled by BIOS?
heni30
I took off the cooler and cleaned off both surfaces - am going to re-paste. Cooler was quiet and smooth. I'm pretty sure HT is enabled on the bios. I'm looking for a performance tester app to see if it's just running slow in general. Like I said, windows is giving the 4770k cpu a 5.1 rating while the 920 is getting a 7.4. Something ain't right. braddewald
Windows takes the lowest sub score for that rating - what is the sub score giving it a 5.1?
numerobis
I'm looking for a performance tester app to see if it's just running slow in general. You can try cinebench and compare the results: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/cinebench-11-5.html http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2013/-02-Cinebench-11.5,3143.html http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2013/-01-Cinebench-11.5,3142.html And some additional tools to see whats going on: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
heni30
numerobis - thanks! Windows takes the lowest sub score for that rating - what is the sub score giving it a 5.1? CPU - you can see it on my attachments - calculations per second. Edited October 27, 2014 by heni30
