marcinpabich
There are four producers of HHDs: WD, Seagate, Hitachi and Toshiba. I am thinking about WD Blacks 4 TB. Velociraptor has to small capacity and is loud. About Seagate SSHD I've read too many bad opinions. I don't how the situation looks with Toshiba and HGST and with enterprise versions of WD and Seagate drives.
numerobis
HGST 2,5" is now WD, HGST 3,5" is Toshiba and Samsung (3,5") is Seagate... so there is only WD, Seagate and Toshiba. I have used mainly Hitachi and Samsung for the last ten years and always avoided Seagate. I don't buy WD anymore because the only HDD that failed in maybe 20 years was a WD (4 years ago) and i think their quality is going down. I'm now using Toshiba and they are doing great so far (4 3TB drives - 7200rpm/190MB/s seq. - in a server and two external 2,5" 1,5GB and 2GB drives). https://www.backblaze.com/blog/what-hard-drive-should-i-buy/ https://www.backblaze.com/blog/hard-drive-reliability-update-september-2014/ Edited October 28, 2014 by numerobis
