stephencronshaw
Can anyone recommend any good vrml viewing software? I have looked at Turn Tool and it looks fantastic, but was looking for other alternatives or shareware to just have a play for now. Which is best? thanks in advance, Steve
quizzy
Do you want a VRML or a VR viewing software package? VRML stands for Virtual Reality Moddelling Language, you have a couple of viewers for that, just type in vrml viewers in altavista. If you want VR viewing software there a lot of options, just search the forum: Virtual Reality (in the topic only) But playing around might be a waste of time, you need a clear goal on what you want the software to be able to do. Just playing means downloading about 40 different VR software engines.... If you have questions on VR software, and what certain software is capable of, just post it here and i'll be glad to help since i've tested around 13 different software packages. But please let me know what your goal is, this is very important.. cheers
stephencronshaw
My goal is to create some VR visualisation for my dad who is designing a project which requires visuals. My dad has little 3d rendering knowledge so I offered to produce some 3d renderings for him using baked texturing in Max 5.1 and Brazil I wanted to play, or test some vr software that included walk-thrus, just to show him a sample of his design in vr. I don't want to pay for full software at this stage obviously. I have downloaded the sample Turn Tool viewer from their website but the download only allows you to rotate the model and not walk-thru etc, I wanted to show my dad an example of moving through and around his model but maybe I will have to pay for this?? cheers, Steve
quizzy
if you want I could import that model in Quest3D and make an executable walkthrough for you.
J.R.
In turntool you can make a walkthrough with the free available version. just create a free camera linked to a physics-sphere and make the floor and walls collision-detected and you can walk through your model. stephencronshaw
Great, sorted now. Thanks to those for the help and advice. In the end I have used the turn tool freeware. Can't believe it can do camera animations and walk-thrus too, brilliant! cheers, Steve
