erikbroberg
Hi all, This is most likely an ignorant question/silly mistake. Anyway recently switched from rhino to vray for max and for some reason my xfrog 3ds max trees are grey. Strangely enough when I don't add them into the scene they have materials. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Nicolai Bongard
Max might not find your maps, as they are somewhere on your harddrive and max does not automatically look everywhere for external files, as that could end up in it taking really long looking through your computer, and whatever network drives you might have, for missing textures. Go to customize -> customization -> configure user paths -> external files and add the folder containing the textures. Then try to load/import the xfrog trees. If it still does not show up, try to select your object/tree and go into the material editor, material - get from selected and see if the object has any materials set up. If it does not, you will need to create them from scratch. If they do, they may just not have the Show Shaded Material in Viewport enbled (a button on top of the material editor that looks like a lightbulb in front of a chess set). If so, double click on the material, then press the button, and the tree should start to look more like a tree.
Amen
You could use Relink Bitmaps or project manager or something similar to search for the missing maps.
