yp
Hi, this gallery post http://www.cgarchitect.com/2014/11/wip-buildings refers to a technique ILM used in Avengers and which actually brought me to this idea: how would it be achieved to take a spherical panorama from an interior (probably similar size / ratio of the room it should later be projected on) and map it back on the wall from the same position it has been taken from? Just as a rough guess: a 360° degrees cam with camera map modifier and a spherical background image? Havent used the camera map mod yet, honestly. Would be interesting for a precise use for reconstruction but even for archviz it might be useful, even if rooms a not perfectly matching the ratio - still better than mapping simple planes set back from the glass a little.. this technique does only work for a more or less far view from a building and a straight view. Scott Schroeder
I probably doesn't need to be a spherical image. You can do it with 3 shots of the room combined in photoshop with the perspective tool. If you look at the ILM interior images in the video, they are pretty simple. Then if you want the, say bookcase, to look like it is away from the wall you can simply create a box. Remember, you are seeing this all through glass so it doesn't have to be 100% accurate. Around the 2:00 mark.
