Jason Matthews
Hey guys, I have a previous build that has a ASUS P9X79 LE motherboard, Rosewill HIVE-750 PSU, and an i7-3930K. I recently bought a GTX970 video card and pulled out the old card and installed the new one. The card came with its own 6-pin plugs (2 of them). The PCI express cables for my PSU did not have the power connections attached to them. They only had the 6-pin and 6+2 pin connections on the cables. I saw this as being an issue because the PSU has a dedicated area for PCI-E cables. I went to Tiger Direct and they told me that I could simply utilize the power cables made for the drives. So I get back and I try it and then when I turn the power on I see a small flash just below my RAM, and nothing happened. I have removed all RAM, disconnected all cables to the drives, and the only thing connected is the power going to the motherboard (20+4 pin and an 8-pin). Still nothing. The only thing I saw was a green light telling me that I had power to the board. I then tried plugging in another PSU to the board and still nothing, and now I have no green light at all. Did I just blow my motherboard?

Jason Matthews
It's a Rosewill Hive 750w. Plenty of power. I was talking to the guys at Tiger Direct and they said that there was no way that the connection like that would have done anything to the negative and that they connect video cards all the time like that. They mentioned that it could be a video card malfunction. They are testing everything now. I should have an answer soon.
