stuartkemp
Hi guys, Just a quick one... is there a feature or 3rd party plugin/script for Max 2014 whereby when I have created a group and instanced it, I can then add objects to my group and have all the instances update with the new object? Similar to how blocks would work in Autocad I suppose. Found an old thread with a link to a script called 'Instance Replace' which I can't seem to find anymore but something similar to that I think. Hope that makes sense, any pointers would be appreciated! Cheers
Corey Beaulieu
I don't know of anything, but you can use the Clone Align tool and the Group Bounding Box (the pink helper) to link instances of your object to all other groups.
Nicolai Bongard
This may not work for your needs, but if one of the items in your group is an editable poly or mesh, you could add your new item to that, thus updating all the other instances. But then again it could not be the best thing later having two objects in one mesh.
arielgualtruzzi
SoulBurn Scripts has a tool for replacing objects with instances, I use it a lot for instance/update assets. Also you can use 3ds max "Containers".
