which software do you guys use for 3D Floor Plans?

The hard way in max? I would think recreating a model with a whole new piece of software would be the hard way.

 

With Vray 3's slicer, this makes this task even easier. If you don't have Vray 3, you can use the distance tex to easily slice off your roof.

 

Yes, it is for Vray in Maya but it is literally the exact same process: http://therenderblog.com/render-time-perfect-booleans-with-vraydistancetex/

 

If you don't want to go the slicer route, it is as simple as setting your ceiling to not visible to camera and possibly capping off holes in between the walls. Other than removing the ceilings, the process is pretty much same as if you were doing beauty views. You material the same way. You light the same way. Etc....

@Scott Schroeder slicing roof is least of my worry, the problem is decorating the whole house for just one view. client doesnt want any interior view, :( just an orthographic view of the whole plan. modeling walls and floors is a piece of cake but putting furniture and fixture just for one view is a headache, i dont mind learning a new software if it could be integrated in the pipeline and will be useful for future projects. :)

@ kushwant singh, nice work mate, did you use 3ds max / vray for that view?

You don't need software, you just need a library of models if you want the easy way out. Evermotion, CG Axis, etc. Theres a million and a big library will cost ya a million too. Geez, I would hate to think about how much I have spent of assets... Ugh!!! :eek:

 

Modeling the scene and dropping in pre-made models should take a day or two at most.

Hello Sajid Haq... thanks for giving comment & i was used 3ds max & vray with photoshop for texting and background color has been added.. for this view

 

the client needed for brochure purpose.. that was really nice, he given the amount of Rs: 6,000/- for the view..

Glad I came across the Vray thing - makes it more tempting to cross over, especially for slicing high poly scenes.

 

I've found that the "slice" modifier native to Max works pretty well. You can often just select borders and cap holes, though a little manual labor can be needed for more closing off irregular shapes. (Is that what you meant by doing it "the hard way"?)

make it spline model take it the perfect height in this isometric i was taken 6 ft height

I see how not everything is cut in your example, but why not apply the modifier over just the walls you want to cut and leave everything else?

 

As for rendering, I have not had a problem with getting (rebuilding) clear geometry after a slice and having it render well. I have used Zbrush to "close holes" for really irregular shapes though - it's a good 1-click fix. (The geometry might look wonky, but wouldn't be noticeable in the final image. Not recommended if you're going to be UV mapping.)
