Andrew1
I just noticed recently that my 6 core intel 4930 is only running in 6 cores and is not utilizing multi-threading..., I can see in system task manager only showing 0-5 active threads and before I could see 12.. I am running windows 7 pro with asus p9x79 mobo... I used to render with 12 buckets now only 6 ... whats going on with this system lol anyone? I've tried everything that I know , so far checked bios , multi-threading is enabled, I just updated my bios to the newest ver 4701, I checked msconfig under boot/advanced I can only select 6 cores... this is beyond me ... can anyone land a hand here, I'm very disappointed, it seems as windows is not detecting full functionality of my cpu any help would be appreciated. thanks, Andrew
Andrew1
I just wanted to re-post as I found a solution..., The trick is in the msconfig under boot tab / advanced option , there is a field with numbers of processors, and it was set to 6 as maximum, after unchecking that field and restarting all 12 threads reappeared lol. Strange windows was treating the system as 6 core only even though all the multithreading was enabled... Good lesson learned after 2 hours of research.. Hope this post can help others with future computing.....
