GPU cards: choosing a good 970 gtx

Recommended Posts

My STRIX does coil-whine a bit if I stress it a lot. Doesn't happen in gaming (because it doesn't stress it 100% all the time), but does in F@H & GPGPU. It is not bad / loud, but you can hear the card is @ 100%!

It took some time it working very hard (I fold with F@H) for this to come up. It wasn't like that out of the box. I don't know if I should RMA it or not.

Gigabyte supposidly has the best power delivery, but those cards are looooong. I could not fit it in my case due to watercooling radiators not allowing the length of the Gigabyte cards, and I picked it over the MSI as it had a back-plate and was predominately black instead of that flashy red MSI uses.

I have given up on brand devotion. I have had good products and bad products from most of the manufacturers out there, I just choose to do a little extra research before purchasing now.

I have a Zotac GTX 970 Amp Omega and it runs great without overclocking. I had no previous experience with Zotac but it comes with a really good warranty, it had favorable reviews, and the build quality seemed top notch from what information I could find. Of what was available at the time it made the most sense to me. If all of the different brands and options were available to me I don't know that I would have chosen the Zotac, but looking back I am pleased with my purchase.

I do agree on this point but EVGA is the only brand I know that clearly states that overclocking will not void warranty . For those who like to play with frequencies and voltages like me this is a hard to beat selling point imho .

Sure if it has one why any reason why the DP port would not work?

Yer brand devotion is pretty silly most of the graphics cards are simply vanilla cards with 'special coolers' added, I bet most of the PCB are made in one factories as well!

The only comparable difference is warranty period aftermarket cooler and price and OC......
