Hi Mohammed,

Your work is pretty good. The best way to get an estimate for the amount you should charge for a project. Get the plan from the client and go to another professional studio ask for a quotation to the plan and tell them the deadline(Do not give softcopy or reveal client logo or name take hard copy of the plan only, no title blocks.). Once you get the quote make sure the per hour cost does not exceed 500 Rs. And you are good to start with the project.

500Rs = $8 USD

Might as well just give to your client for free and let this whole industry go to hell in a handbasket. Computer does all the work anyway, right?

Well this is good advise but as I have worked in India for this industry... There are just too many of us who are doing architectural visualization. Imagine every corner of every city street in India has one Architectural Visualization studio. With such a huge competition you need to start in the bottom of the shit pile and move up. You will soon realize that the clients that you pitch to for projects already have minimum of 10 visualization studios they give work to. So why would they give work to you. Besides that, the client also has a very low budget system. Like they will somehow try to get work done from you for free or even worse refuse to pay up when you deliver the work.

With such a bad system setup. If you start charging at the regular 25$ - 50$ per hour rate you will not have projects to start with. Even if you have the talent it will not be of any use.

Also one more difference of the use of Architectural Visualization that I have found in between India and the rest of the world is, that in the rest of the world the archviz stuff is used by the builder or the architect at site. Also Archviz stuff helps them sell their property to buyers. In India there is a whole different story, if it is an apartment, it is sold before the builder even puts in the foundation. The only reason why they do archviz is bcos their competition is doing it. Also they need something to put on the billboard outside the site.

Different economies...if 500Rs is good money in India then it's fine...As long as you can live comfortably with what you charge your clients. I dunno why there are so many visualizers in India tho...How many of them are trying to get clients in North America? It must be hard. Just the trouble of dealing with someone 10k kms away, plus the language barrier sometimes...not worth it imo.

If it is like that I would not get into that business. To your original question ''I am a 3d artist from Mumbai, India..I want to know how much I should charge for my 3d works to the client''' hard to give advice if the pay is that different from the rest of the world, you know the local prices way better then we do.

Dont worry! the industry we work in is totally different than the country they live in. thats a different world. I have an x colleague who charge $2/h still run door to door for some work. Because the work is no better than a screen shot from your viewport.

They just chose a wrong profession. they will take the work and spend a whole week with a small residential exterior. while you can finish off in 5-6 hours easily. So even hourly rate is not an issue. the work that you do in 10 hours, unbelievably some of them will take 100 hours.

Dont believe me? ask some other guy who lives in subcontinent.

This is the exact reason I never bother with those freelancing websites. You always get undercut by someone from india, or china. Even if it's a worse service the price is so attractive that you simply cannot compete. Not even close.
