larsmosnes
Hi there, im curently working on a project and recived many buildings in one fbx file. Im going to adjust the placement of the buildings in the z axis, from a terrain model i have created. But when i select for example the roof of one building, the roof of the other buildings will be selected. Any easy way to import everything into seperate objects? Then just group them in 3ds max? Cheers!
siddharthkolte
When importing if you are using the Link FBX option. Under the Manage Link Dialog box there are default presets to import. By default it is set to Objects by Category or Material, Change this to do not combine entities and all the objects in the FBX file will come separate unless it is combined in the exporting software. If it is combined in the exporting software, then you will have to split each element in the model as a different object using a for loop to go through the number of elements and using the detach option on all the elements... at the end do not forget to delete the object as there will be 0 polygons in the object as all the elements from it have been detached. Or just look for a script that detaches elements.
