Gary Ledgerwood
Let me see if I can describe this problem quickly and so it makes sense. I have two pc's connected to a KVM switch. I have a render going on pc-A (Boxx Xtreme 4920) where I go into the task manager and stop one core from contributing to rendering so I can work in Sketchup or whatever else without any lag. I have been doing this for years with no issue. The problem comes along when I switch over to the other pc and then switch back. Even if it is just for a second. PC-A starts freaking out. Max seems to be cycling through every dialogue box that is open and the pc runs so slow that it is barely usable. I cant for the life of me figure out what might cause this. Any insight would be appreciated.
siddharthkolte
Wow!!! Well I don't have a sure shot solution for this but I think it is caused when windows 8 interferes with the processes of 3dsmax. When 3dsmax takes a lot of time to process something windows 8 thinks its not responding and tries the fade it to white but 3dsmax brings to front one of the dialog boxes open and windows tries to fade that one and the loop continues until one of them take longer to do the task than the other. Then either 3dsmax crashes giving the Send Report window or 3dsmax returns to normal function.
Gary Ledgerwood
Thanks very much for the reply! I guess I should have noted that I am using Windows 7. ) It is the weirdest thing. I was going to post a video but I guess it was too large. You can see the processes jumping all over the place in the task manager as well. Eventually it will stop and return to normal. My work around has been to remote connect to my other pc to check progress rather than switching via the KVM. I suppose that is a decent solution, I am just really curious what could cause this. Francisco Penaloza
I think it can be the video card or video driver, when you switch with the KVM the resolution to your other PC change? I remember using one of those time ago and I had similar problem. I also decided just remote connect.
