Prasad Lavande
I am building my first system. It would be strictly used for work purposes: Modelling & Rendering(no gaming). Following softwares will be used : Autodesk Maya 2015, Adobe Photoshop CS6, Pixologic ZBrush vR7, Autodesk 3ds Max 2015, Vray or Mental ray for final output rendering. My budget is about INR 2lakhs (approx USD 3,222). Here is what I have designed: 1)Processor:- Intel Core i7 5960X Haswell-E....INR 71,799 (approx USD 1,157). 2)Motherboard:- ASUS X99-PRO....INR 25,741 (approx USD 415). Was going for asus x99-A, but for INR 3465(approx USD 56) more, I will be getting additional wireless support. 3)RAM:- Gskill Ripjaws 4 F4-2400C15Q-32GRR DDR4....INR 37,691 (approx USD 607). Since maximum amount of RAM power is needed during rendering. 4)Storage:- a)SSD: Samsung 850 Pro-Series 2.5" 256GB (MZ-7KE256BW)....INR 13,000 (approx USD 209). b)HDD: WD Black 1TB(WD1003FZEX)....INR 5,850 (approx USD 94). 5)CPU Cooler:- CORSAIR Hydro Series H110 Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler.....INR 9,200 (approx USD 148). I was going for nzxt kraken x61 but its unavailable here. 6)OS:- Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit.....INR 7,470 (approx USD 120). 7)Cabinet:- Nzxt Phantom 630......INR 12,293 (USD 198) 8)PSU:- Cooler Master V-Series 1000W..........INR 13,950 (USD 225) I have already bought the processor, RAM, ssd+hdd, OS. I have nvidia quadro 2000 graphic card in my previous rig. I will be using that. Also I would be buying a DVD-CD/RW drive. NZXT P630 selected solely because of its side fan. As I am planning for AIO cooler, I don't want to overlook cooling of gpu and vrm. I live in Mumbai, India and here, in summer, temps rise around 35C. Also, the rig would be used for about 15 to 18 hours daily. So I am leaning towards cases with side fans. Also I am going to overclock. So, going for 1000W PSU as in future I may go for sli too. This is my first build and that too a workstation. So, please help. Thanks in advance.
mehdyt
That would be a nice "expensive" build except for the GPU , I would rather get a 5930K + GTX 980 instead of that 5960X but since you have already got the CPU... There are other and cheaper RAM options , higher frequencies doesn't automatically translate to faster rendering time.
RyderSK
You know well what you need and you put together good WS. I don't think you need comments. Your reasoning is sound :- )
Dimitris Tolios
It is a solid build. Yes, the Quadro 2000 is sub-par in the context of high-end contemporary hardware , but doesn't hurt to use it for now. As for the future, I would go R9 290/290X (a model with good non-ref cooling) or a 970. If I was itching for something more powerful, I would go for a CF/SLI pair of the above for the same or slightly more money than a single 980. Btw, I was trying to force SLI with Maya and 3DS 2015 on a 970 Strix pair. Appears to be working here and there with Maya but you don't see consistency. =( 3DS 2015 doesn't seem to care no-matter what. Actual performance is the same, in benchmarks (SPECapc 3DS 2015) appears to be slightly worse. Meh, no worries, the single 970 is already great. Prasad Lavande
@mehdyt, @RyderSK, @dtolios Thank U Very Much!!! Ur responses mean a lot to me. That would be a nice "expensive" build except for the GPU , I would rather get a 5930K + GTX 980 instead of that 5960X but since you have already got the CPU... Actually I have the quadro from my previous build. Later I will be buying a better gpu as budget permits. And really liked the "expensive" Yeah it is. There are other and cheaper RAM options , higher frequencies doesn't automatically translate to faster rendering time. Actually 2133Mhz & 2400MHz had a very little price difference of USD 15. So, went for 2400Mhz one. @dtolios I would remember ur advice of using 2 R9 290/290X or 970 when buying gpu later. Thank U everyone once again. I have one more question: Should I go with a push or pull or push/pull with the AIO?
Prasad Lavande
Thank you very much @Mehdy, @Juraj, @Dimitris for ur responses. It really helped me. I am glad that my system will rock. That would be a nice "expensive" build except for the GPU , I would rather get a 5930K + GTX 980 instead of that 5960X but since you have already got the CPU... There are other and cheaper RAM options , higher frequencies doesn't automatically translate to faster rendering time. I have the quadro in my previous build. I will be using that. I will be buying a gpu later. And regarding the RAM, the price difference between 2133MHz & 2400MHz is very little, so bought the 2400MHz one. I really liked the "expensive", yeah it costing me a lot, but nevertheless I am really happy & eagerly waiting for the parts to arrive & see how the system will perform. @Dimitris I will keep in mind the mentioned gpus for sli. Once Again Thank U Very Much Everyone!

numerobis
Large Model GPU performance / SPECapc 3DS 2015 default @ 1080p Quadro K600: 0.43 pt GTX 750Ti: 2.82pt Firepro V7900: 4.3pt Quadro K4000: 4.85pt Firepro W5000: 5.06pt GTX 970: 9.37pt GTX 970 SLI: 9.37pt Thanks for the comparison. How do you read out the values? My Excel 2003 refused to display the numbers. But maybe it needs a newer Office...
