Very slow rendering on workstation

hello my name is praveen and this is my first post

 

My friend bought a new workstation for professional 3dsmax rendering. Rendering is very very slow and the system is hanging too!

 

Configurations are follows

 

Processor - Intel xeon e5 2400v2

card - Quadro Kepler 5000 4gb

MOBO - Intel DBS2400SC2

RAM - DDR3 - ECC - 8gb Zion

HDD - 4 tb seagate

 

We use 3dsmax 2015 and vray 3

 

How to improve the rendering speed?Please help

You should check if you're running out of RAM. 8GB is not much. If the system starts to use the pagefile you normally see massive slowdowns.

And the other thing is temperature. It's possible that your temps are too high and the CPU starts throtteling. You can use something like Coretemp ( http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ ) or Realtemp. And maybe CPU-Z to check the CPU speed - Coretemp should also display the CPU speed but just to get a bit more info ( http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html ).

Thank you for the reply . But my mistake in the specification. Its 4x8gb ram means 32 gb ram. Is that enough for a decent rendering ?

This always depends on your needs. But yes, i think this should be more than enough for many scenes - especially if you're in the situation that you have to ask this question .

Just look at the RAM usage in the task manager...
