vivekkharat
Are there any online services available for GPU cloud rendering for Octane and Vray RT ?
aaronrumple
With the dropping price in cards and power available at the desktop - I think it would be a hard business model.
Chris MacDonald
I'm fairly sure chaos group are working on something cloud based, though what it "is" remains to be seen.
aaronrumple
Nvidia has its VCA appliance. Octane is using that for animation studios. http://www.nvidia.com/object/visual-computing-appliance.html Costs are dropping fast, but for the smaller firms doing stills - I think in house production is going to be the cheap route. $4K for a massive amount of GPU with the new Titain is really attractive. I'm not sure what the cost of GPU vs. CPU farms will be.
Sketchrender
Attractive at €1000, but they are working on a cheaper version too apparently. I personally, would like to render Arch Viz in real-time,or at least out put draft animations with the RT animation tab. There is a bug in it at the moment, and it is on a list of things to fix, I have been told. Philip
philippelamoureux
I've been waiting for Octane render Cloud for a long time...don't hold your breathe... but it will come one day, I suppose! V-cloud, not idea!
vivekkharat
Yes. Ive been waiting for Vray cloud and Octane cloud for a while as well. As I was building a new rig for GPU rendering, I was wondering if its a good idea to invest alot of money on a super high end PC with a bunch of Titan Xs and what not. Would love to exploit both options actually in the near future. Cloud and offline rendering. I kinda feel Octane cloud should be up and running this year atleast. And V-ray will then follow. Fingers crossed. Exciting times ahead
Christopher Nichols
The NVIDIA VCA supports V-Ray natively. http://www.nvidia.com/object/visual-computing-appliance.html Cloud rendering is happening for sure. Either GPU or CPU and V-Ray supports both. I'd love to know more about your cloud experiences.
Amen
I recently read a few very interesting articles about Amazon ec2. So I will try and see if I can get it to work for me.
Christopher Nichols
One key factor when considering cloud services is if the billing takes place by the hour or the min. Also important is how long it takes for the VM to come online and start rendering. This is a cost that is billed to you even if the computer is not rendering.
