Hello guys,

I am trying to learn how to use MR and also keep in mind I havent used max in over a year.. so I am a little rusty. I can get pretty good results with Vray and even the regular advanced rendered but I cant figure out MR.

Can you please take a look at my scene file and tell me what I am doing wrong beside the ugly model? haha

Thank you !

I have used the architecrual mateiral in order to control bleeding which I was able to learn form searching the threads. =)

here is my screen shot.

I was able to get pretty good results, but I had to increase the number of Final gatherings samples from 500 - 2500 for this render.

I am consufed in regards to the light settings in those 3 different places and their relationship. Can someone plese help?

I noticed I get the same effect when I change the Multiples (intensity/color) or when I change the Global Muiltiples (energy)

I hope someone can explain bc the help files arent very well understood sometimes.

Hi there,

if you change global settings it will affect all lights in the scene... globally.

'Indirect illumination' panel in light properties serves to override global sets for specific light. When you uncheck the 'Automatically calculate....' checkbox, you will enable the lower part of the panel, for local settings.

Now, about the rendering, I think your FG samples and GI photons count are not in a good ratio. With 2500 samples, I think you should increase photons to around 200000, more or less.

Decay is way too small IMHO, nudge it up around 1.7-8, but leave that until the end.

First try to increase FG reflection count to 7, decrease light intensity to 1(always the best result), decrease shadow opacity to around 0.8, and then tweak the energy decay.

Hope it helps, I will look into the file.

Cheers
