ammarkrpo
Hello everyone! First I would take this opportunity to thank cg architects and there members for this forum. You have helped me already trough a lot of problems. This post is about a new computer/workstation. Since I went through some website trying to figure out which will suite me the best and not to spend 5000$ on something which is not needed at all in the end, I decided I will post for help in picking the best solution I can get. Required for Architectural visualization (interior, exterior etc) Programs : 3ds max 2014, Vray 3.0, Price range up to 3,200$ (can go up to 3,500$, if it means a lot) I think it’s clear that my goal is photorealistic pictures but that is something which is also based on my skills and experience, but to know at least that it’s not a hardware based problem. The system I work at the moment is really outdated and not that good to begin with. AMD A6-3650 2.6GHz 6GB DDR3 NVidia GT630. Sorry for posting a new thread but as I need to buy this pretty soon I though it might help to make a new thread.
ryannelson
I just purchased: i7 5820k (OC to 4.1ghz) Asus x99-a Corsair H100i 32gb crucial ddr4 kit Asus GTX 970 (note VRAY 3.1 fully supports Maxwell architecture for Activeshade mode) 2x240gb SSD (Raid1) 2tb HDD Windows 7 pro Came in at $3260CDN from NCIX including build. The 5820k is a beast, so far I'm quite happy with it. I've OC'd it to 4.1ghz and run at about 55degrees full load.
terrystrickl
I am working in an architecture office and we are using the office server which manages a storage server pass4sure ccna book for all our data. We have a couple computers which are used as render nodes at night and workstations during the day. This is by far an ideal setup.
Tommy L
I am working in an architecture office and we are using the office server which manages a storage server pass4sure ccna book for all our data. We have a couple computers which are used as render nodes at night and workstations during the day. This is by far an ideal setup. Assuming you have peripherals taken care of (monitor, wacom etc) then you can build a good workstation and a seperate render node (maybe even 2 nodes) for $3500. The below link is a good place to start: http://pcfoo.com/2014/11/1500-cg-workstation-q3-2014/
