grantpichla
Hi everyone, I've ran into a problem when I unwrap my UVs for a house model that I am working on for practice. I've had success unwrapping UVs for test objects, such as a crate/box... but now that I've gotten to this house model, things get screwy during the process. I've recorded a screen cap using VLC media player, so I apologize for not having the mouse clicks included. http://youtu.be/2pF9XcY7XfQ In the video link, you'll see that I start with adding basic roof and siding textures to the house. These are each Arch Materials with a texture added in the diffuse and bump channels. Then I select the roof, add the Unwrap UVW modifier to it, click edit, un-check ignore backfacing, select all faces, and flatten mapping. Upon flattening the map, the texture on the roof gets completely messed up. In addition (not in the video), by selecting any face from the UVW unwrap screen and shifting it around on the 'map', I see immediate changes to the texturing in the viewport. This is bad, since the viewport is directly trying to mimic where the UVW faces have been put (or resized) in the UV map. Next in the video, I illustrate the same issue happening when I add the Unwrap UVW modifier to the siding of the house. Has anyone experienced this? On my original project file, I went through and textured, lit, and shaded everything before running into this problem, which completely halted my progress. I have tried closing max, restarting, etc. When I tried using a simple box with 6 sides, all of the UVW 'flatten mapping' worked accurately. However, I did not try this using the roofing or siding Arch materials, which will be my next test when I get back home. Maybe I should export the house into an OBJ and re-import before starting the texturing? I don't know if that would help. It was originally an FBX file.
