trhoads
A new project I am working on, has a stone veneer around the perimeter of the building. It is a fairly rectalinear stone, and the maps turn the corners well, but the corners are too sharp, and it shows up, and I can't stand it. Any ideas on how to make the corners not as sharp. I am posting a quick shot for reference.

trhoads
I tried fillet and chamfer. but that still gives them very uniform corners. I really want the corner to be rough, i just dont wnat to have to model it, this building has about 20 outside corners like this. thanks for the suggestion. Jeff Mottle
You might want to check out f-edge http://www.ddag.org/
trhoads
Thanks Jeff, I should have mentioned that I model everything in AutoCAD, and File Link. f-edge does not seem to affect AutoCAD solids. But thanks for the suggestion.
skogskalle
are you using Vray or Mental Ray? If so try the displacement map. Havent tried it myself, but that should work...
trhoads
Nope, not that sofisticated. Just VIZ, and VIZ 3i at that. Still trying to convince the boss I need new software. Hard to do, when they like what comes out of the old program.
Crazy Homeless Guy
does the free version of vray work with your version of Viz? ...and if so, does the free version of vray support displacemnet mapping?
trhoads
I tried to download vray free, and they did not play well together. I could not get it to work, maybe it was my error. But in the end, i gave up. i have also read around here that displacement with vray free, is not as nice as the purchased version.
Tim Nelson
I'm pretty sure Vray free does not have displacment included anyways.
Tomas
In case you want just a still image, the most easy way is a clone-stamp tool in Photoshop, or another similar piece of SW. You can make your corners looks really good and it is not so tome consuming. Tomas.

trhoads
I have decided that is my only real option fo rany corners that are close to the viewpoint. The rest will get a rounded corner, to ease the sharpness. Thanks to all who had suggestions.
