matthewhickey
I use my laptop for working everywhere, and my workstation desktop for rendering (DR spawner). I recently acquired a second HDD larger than my laptop SSD, so I'm wondering if there was a way to sync my laptop's SSD to the second HDD on the desktop, so I could boot to that if I wanted to, and also to keep a 2nd backup. Which software would I need if possible? I basically want it to copy everything, once a day, over the internet (networked HDD on desktop). It sounds possible... Thanks in advance! TomasEsperanza
When I replaced my primary drive with an SSD on my laptop I used a USB to SATA cable, to mirror the OS drive over to the new SSD, before installing it. The cable came with accompanying software to do this, and was provided with the SSD. The SSD was a Crucial M4 and it says "Hard Drive Replacement" on the box. But regularly syncing the whole OS over the internet sounds more challenging. For data syncing I use FreeFileSync on the LAN (even though I have a Synology, just so I can work locally and not rely on the NAS for assets). http://www.freefilesync.org/ Then of course you have Cloud storage (like Dropbox), or a decent NAS made available to the internet. Also have you heard of Lima?: https://meetlima.com/a/index.html Plus, this thread might be of relevance: http://forums.cgarchitect.com/78002-remote-desktop-software-heavy-work.html Edited April 20, 2015 by TomasEsperanza
elipan
I think GoodSync by Siber Systems will do just fine.
