Roodogg
Hi everyone. I couldn't find this answer anywhere so apologies if it has been answered. I wonder if anyone knows what V-Ray does with geometry on hidden layers when using distributed rendering? Does it send the entire scene to the slaves, regardless of hidden layers or not? I ask because I want to know whether to use proxies more in my scene. Thanks in advance.
siddharthkolte
As per what I know when running Distributed rendering the entire file is sent to the slave PC, regardless objects are hidden in it or not. So I would suggest do not keep highres mesh hidden in your scene its a waste of space in terms of filesize. It will not affect the render time only the loading time of the scene on the slave PC. Roodogg
But I presume proxies and xrefs would not be referenced by the slaves if they are hidden in the master file?
TomasEsperanza
I can't tell you the answer, but it did occur to me that: You could do a test scene and monitor the memory usage between switching the proxies on/off.
