Roodogg
Question's in the title really - what on earth have they done with 'add objects to layer button? Not even the help file makes sense. Thanks.
Dejan Sparovec
Yeah, they pretty much ruined the layer manager in 2015. You can find that button in the layer toolbar (right-click on empty space on the main toolbar and open the layer toolbar from there) or do it in the layer explorer's quad menu if you feel masochistic... Corey Beaulieu
I hated the 2015 layer manager from the start, but I have learned to use its benefits and ignore the issues. What Dejan means is that you select your objects, right click in the dead space and choose "Pick New Parent" then pick the new layer. I have had 2016 for about hours now and I already think it is a really good release. The layer manager is, among many other things, better. Much better. 2015 has its faults, but it is an improved version of Max. You have to live with a few changes, but it's always best to stay current. It makes trading files with coworkers and clients the easiest. Side note: The 2015 scene explorer/layer manager breaks from time to time. Under the Tools menu you can select Manage Scene Explorers and remove what is there. When you relaunch all functionality will be restored.
