tomlowe
My Dell S2440L 61cm (24") LED Monitor just broke (right in the middle of some major deadlines!) and I can't find a single shop in my area that sells Hi spec monitors in store. So... Does anyone have a recommendation for a quality monitor for arch viz work?

And in your place I wouldn't consider buying a Philips. Prejudice? Maybe;).

If you want pro stuff, you need to request it. Any of the Dell ULTRASharp Monitors will do. Excellent quality and value for money. For example the 24 inch one: Dell U2412M If you can afford it, the 27 inch is even better! There are fancier full gamut auto callibrating monitors that can easily cost 5 times as much. ryannelson
I'm loving this one I got a couple months ago: http://www.ncix.com/detail/asus-pb278q-27in-led-backlit-1f-76578.htm Reasonable price, great quality. The speakers are seriously WEAK though.

The speakers are seriously WEAK though. I currently have the Dell U2412M, which has been great. If I was stepping up to 27" I'd definitely take a look at the Asus. If you have a bigger budget and looking for improved colour accuracy and a wide gamut display you might want to look at this model: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-asus-pa279q-professional-ah-ips-led-monitor-10-bit-hdmi-dvi-displayport-2560x1440-250cd-m2-100m1-
SgWRX
i use the dell 2412m and like it. its a solid unit for 3d and photography. you definitely will want 16x10 aspect ratio, not 16x9. for example 1920x1200 pixels is preferred over 1920x1080. gives you more room. for high color monitors, argb color space, wide gamut, make sure you read about how to use wide gamut and how it affects your windows non-color managed apps vs color managed apps like photoshop indesign or after effects. also know that max seems to be close to but not exactly srgb. not sure about vray as i dont use that. asus monitors are also good and nec or eizo. Dimitris Tolios
Today I've unpacked a pair of U2415 panels...seem a great upgrade over the U2412M imho...brighter, a tad sharper and with smaller bezels...not zero thickness as they claim of, it is still .25", only the screen cover overlaps the panel and makes the border look like 1-2mm thick when the panel is off. Still a great design imho. Running 2x daisy chained over a single DP 1.2 port. Looks good and one less cable to hassle with. Too bad I don't have one @ home to terminate my U2711 to Still drooling in the thought of upgrading it a year from now or so to a 144Hz 34" 21:9 Edited May 12, 2015 by dtolios
