3ds max freezes when trying to render

Hi,

 

 

I've just gotten a new machine and when I try to render a scene in 3ds Max Design 2015 using MR, it just freezes up. When I check my task manager nothing is going on with 3ds, it's practically idle. I also noticed that it was really slow to open my file.

 

 

The file itself is a fairly simple terrain surface with a water tank (cylinder) and I'm using forest pack pro to model trees. On my old machine which was a fraction of the horse power this one has, I was able to work with much larger/more complicated models.

 

 

Any thoughts?

are you working with network paths? - i had this problem when working with files stored in different network folders...
