Peter M. Gruhn
I like to build a quick mock up of the project. Just quick extrusions, or arrange the elevations and find the angles that look good and clear the shots with the client. Preferably at the proposal stage. "I can deliver ... similar to this camera angle..."
Corey Beaulieu
Your views don't have to be wide... just take more intimate shots of important elements. Inform your client that you think trying to include too much in a single view highlights how many columns there are instead of how many nice elements of design there are. Maybe suggest they pay a little more and do 5 or 7 details instead of 2 or 3 unattractive wide angles.
Scott Schroeder
You can also cheat the column size a bit. If they are 5 feet round you can make them 4 feet and no one will be the wiser, and it will help your view a bit. I think you need to determine what your shots will see and then determine if there will be a column interfering with the view.
heni30
Sometimes I use ghosted columns. It depends on how it looks and if the client approves.

Justin Hunt
make them transparent, I have had requests from interior designers to "clad the columns in glass to make them see through" , it was all I could do to keep a straight face
