simonm
Hi all Ive seen a few different methods out there for interior lighting but i think my favourite would have to be the soft, no beaming/harsh sun entering the room. Just nice, soft white diffuse lighting. I have tried various methods to achieve this and it seems im not hitting the mark... i get good results but i feel it could be better - interested to see what you guys are up to......i have tried the below: 1 - Vray Sun and Sky combo with very large sun size multiplier 2 - Vray Sun and Sky combo with vray sun turned off and sky in environment slot only 3 - vray dome with HDRI (grey cloudy) - although i dont like using HDRIs for my interiors due to noise would love to see how you guys do it and what specificially you do to achieve this look and feel. Thanks
Nic H
big vray plane lights in the windows or a single hdri (i must admit i find the hdri only method hard to get great results from)
martinhoura
I use massive vray light instead of vraysun - 20x20m or similar. it's painfully slow to render but it looks better I reckon I generally don't put vraylights in all windows, rather just the big vraylight as sun and more as skylight (similar size, less intense, blueish color)
Chris MacDonald
Forget VRay plane lights (except for sky portals), just use a dome light.

simonm
lol - doesnt that make it a lot slower than the conventional way (sun and sky)? Ive always tried to stay away from HDRis for interiors i put a potato in the domelight (or a CGskies hdr)
Chris MacDonald
Yup. Either just white or a daylight colour temperature such as 6500 or 7500 k
re vit
increase the sun 's turbidity (20-30?) and neutralize it with camera white balance.
