Michael J. Brown
I just got my three-monitor setup completed and discovered that a couple of 3dsMax dialog boxes aren't showing up. I've already tried the "alt-space, 'M' key, arrow key, move mouse" method, but that just hasn't worked to retrieve any of these windows. The dialogs/windows M.I.A. are: - Active Shade render window - two of my Material Editor enlarged sample slots (this one is peculiar because all but two will show up when double-clicked to enlarge) There is not so much as a hair of these windows/dialogs visible in any of my monitors. Any suggestions as to how I might be able to get them back into view?
braddewald
I saw this the other day on scriptspot, haven't had to try it out yet though: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/give-me-back-my-dialogs
Josef Wienerroither
I saw this the other day on scriptspot, haven't had to try it out yet though: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/give-me-back-my-dialogs The script works great, provides probably the best method to bring those offscreen dialogs back again
Michael J. Brown
I finally found what to adjust to get my Material Editor sample slot windows to reappear. Somehow several of them had been moved too far off screen to be retrieved by any means I could find online (including the Windows Key + Shift + Arrow Keys method). Went into the 3dsmax.ini file and removed all the negative values from the "MagWindow..." entries.
James Vella
also, for those who find this thread and want to retrieve something non max related off screen... alt+tab until you are pretty sure you have it selected (or win+tab to make sure) > alt+spacebar > M > Arrow Key (any) > The window will now be locked to your mouse and you can move it back on screen
