Josh1587140445
I have been asked to do a rendering of a marina. Which is cool and a change of pace. But there is a little problem. NO BOATS in my little library. Does anyone know where I can get free meshs or even plans so I can attempt to build my own. suurland.com has a couple plans, but mostly military. I am looking for recreational boats. I am not sure about 3Dcafe yet. I have been trying to get on the site all day long.
Jorbu
This site has a nice boat library (Recreational Vehicles Set 1). They are not free, but are reasonably priced. Definately check it out. http://www.abscissa.net/ Hope this helps!
Ernest Burden III
I have been asked to do a rendering of a marina. But there is a little problem. NO BOATS in my little library.I had bought a set of marina boats from abscissa a year or so ago. They are very good, not TOO high poly, but detailed enough. I actually went through killing of little details. When he warns that he has not bothered to properly orient all normals he means it. It looks like he may have added to the collections since I bought. Good products, good price, responsible seller.
Josh1587140445
So you would say they are good enough to import into VIZ and not really have to play with the textures. I mean I will be doing a birds eye view of the site. So detail will not be that great.

Ernest Burden III
So you would say they are good enough to import into VIZ and not really have to play with the textures.More than enough detail--as I said, I reduced the detail. Thre are no textures as I recall, they are polygon models seperated by colored material. That works wonderfully. The price won't take your whole fee. mbr
He's got many on the Turbo Squid site, but the prices for a single boat are well above what the posted set is above. I have no doubt, though, that the models are near perfect, althouhg maybe a little too perfect. I have a S600 Mercedes that he had for free a while back and it's great, but the polygon count is too high for me to use!
Brian Cassil
I bought the deespona library a couple of years ago. It's an unbelievable deal! At the time it was $400 for countless fully textured models, and all of them at 3 or 4 levels of detail. The high res versions of vehicles would be suitible for the most demanding levels of detail. mbr
That is a good deal for those models! I guess I was looking at the TS models at least $100 each. I'll have to go back and look.
Ernest Burden III
deespona library...TS modelsWhich are those? (links) I had posted this exact question when I needed boats, so I am still interested in the answer. I had a marina in renderings just a few weeks ago, but it was to be very small in the views. Chad Warner
Looking through the deespona boats, it seems like they are very nicely detailed and textured, but there is an odd selection. I bought the Abscissa boats a while back and he has a large selection of typical style boats (fishing, speed boats, etc.) -Chad
Fernando Lino
de espona library is a pretty good deal For the same price in TS one just can get 5 nice models ($100 average) instead of 5000 (Espona Models) [ October 07, 2003, 01:57 PM: Message edited by: Fernando Lino ]
