carlotristan3d
I've been using 2012 since forever, and my company upgraded my version to 2015 recently. The same file I've been working on 2012 is a drag in 2015. I takes a while to move, rotate or even do anything. Could it be a graphic card compatibility? Appreciate any feedback. maxryhan
have you tried to install the latest service pack / driver ? and is it only happening with just this file or all your scenes ? Cheers .
tonybishop
is that all your company did is upgrade and your company have not changed anything apart from max? if so then everything should be the same! don't forget the newer verison use at least 7gb of ram, but i don't think this will have any effect unless your company changed anything like the memory. your VGA card should not affect the merging or import of the same max files, if it still slow then i would get the company to take a look at the hard drive and see if you have enough space on it, If not they mite need to add another hard drive or add more memory IMHO
carlotristan3d
Thanks Tony. yes, all they did was upgrade to 2015. hardware remains the same. I have 24gb ram so this is not an issue. I was suspecting it has to do with visibility because 2015 has AO and shadows on by default. But even turning them off didn't improve the performance. Sigh,I ended up working back with 2010. tonybishop
Newer is not always better a lot of people have been complaning about it autodesk did not properly test their software before bring it out that is why there are so many updates/patches on their website to get it working correctly. IMHO it uses up too much memory for the amount of feautres they have, i'd rather stick with max 9 because it's stable and runs fine!
Francisco Penaloza
By default 3d Max 2015 will turn on Realistic mode in your view port, change it to Shaded, and this should speed things up. Also at the bottom of the screen you can try turning off Adaptive degradation ( A little transparent cube icon). Most of the view port issues with 3 D Max are video card related, RAM does not have any input on it, besides how large the scene is loading. Check your video card drivers they may need to update to the "latest recommended" not the very latest from the manufacturer, check Autodesk for compatibility drivers.
