Material Map Coordinates

Hey everybody. First post here, but a quick question:

I have some materials I created using diffuse, bump, displacement maps, and I scaled the tiles using the coordinate in the diffuse map coordinate rollout. Does this link between the other maps for this material?

I am aware of the UVW modifier, but it seemed like more trouble to apply this to every material versus what I thought would be a one time adjustment in the material itself.

Can someone please explain the coordinate rollout, and if it does not link between a material's maps, what is the better method? I have a brick material that I would like to define the scale globally for multiple objects in my scene. Thank you!

First off, Use the UVW Modifier. It is not too much trouble and will get you what you want a lot faster.

Second, the coordinates are not linked at all so you must manually update each map.

If you insist on controlling your map through the coordinates, then I would suggest that you get really good at generating your textures procedurally off of a single map. Use a Color Correction node to make a black and white version and then use an Output node to adjust its contrast. Or something like that. This way you only have one map to control in the first place.

As Corey said, use the UVW modifier. If you think it is a lot of work, you should maybe work in real world units on your maps, so that you can select all geometry in your scene and add a single UVW modifer onto all of it. If you then require fine tuning on one of your objects, you can select that object, delete the shared UVW modifer and then add another one that is specific for that one object, allowing you to fine tune it independently.
