markf
I have a whole lot of textures built up as layered .psd files. For many years my workflow has been to tweak these textures in .psd, save file and then re-render in Max to see the changes made. Now as of updating to 2016 I cannot save a .psd file in photoshop if that same file is being used in my opened scene in Max 2016. I know from google search that others are experiencing this serious inconvenience. Any ideas for work arounds or...?
Josef Wienerroither
You are lucky, i think the recently posted SP1 for 3ds Max 2016 has this fixed, but i can't find it in the readme A quick test with the SP1 installed here showed that there are no problems with locked PSD files any longer http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-3ds-max-2016-service-pack-1.html
markf
Josef, Thank you. I did not receive notice that a sp1 was available. Installed sp1 and that fixed the problem.
Stephen Thomas
This is driving me nuts! I have max 2016 SP1 and still having this problem with jpegs too. Any fix yet?
markf
Stephen, I am using Max 2016 SP1 and I am not having the problem. Just checked with .psd and .jpg maps open in Max scene and then adjusted in pshop and saved no problem. I do recall that I originally fixed the problem in 2015 by doing the SP and Extension updates. I seem to further recall that the problem came back with 2016 and then I did whatever updates were available and it was fixed. I also see that I have 2016 EXT1 installed. You may need that. To make things more complicated I just got an alert to install, for 2016, EXT2 and SP2. I'm going to do that now and hopefully that won't cause any trouble. Then I will get back to work. markf
I installed SP2 and EXT2 and everything seems to work ok including saving maps/image files in pshop when open in max.
