Devin Johnston
I just started using Vray 3 with Max 2016 and I'm really surprised how much ram it's using. A scene that used to use 4-6 Gigs is now requiring 10-11 Gigs and I haven't changed a thing. Is this normal?
timothyhanson
If you are having ram issues, try using tiled exr's and converting your geo to proxies. These two techniques alone will improve memory usage, and decrease render times by 10 to 30% on average.
Devin Johnston
Well the problem is that this new version of Vray seems to be using more ram than previous versions. I already use proxies extensively and my map sizes haven't been an issue until now. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this in version 3 and what might be causing it.
