rasmustobiasen
Hi I could use some help choosing between to laptops. I am an architectural student on my masters and uses these software: Rhino Maya 3D studio max Mudbox Adobe programs Autocad VRAY Mental Ray I am not going to do "professional" work on it. I want a good laptop that is able to handle the software i use and dont use to much time on the rendering process. Not that I am going to make professional renderings, I know I need a desktop to do that job right. I have narrowed the search for the laptops to these two (see below) and I am really confused about the whole gaming GPUs vs PRO GPU. I have also read that the CPU is more important for rendering time? So the GIGABYTE computer has a better cpu but the ASUS has a professional GPU card. Which one is the better laptop for me? Nikolaos M
The second one is much better equiped overall. More RAM, newer processor, ssd, ips monitor etc. But, you should better mention your total budget, the e-shop you are going to buy from, and last but not least, tell us which program(-s) do you use for rendering. That's a very basic fact on order to decide which part of your laptop is more important and how. ps You don't need a proffesional gpu for what you do with your laptop. The K1100 is an entry level mobile quadro. The 970M should perform better in all fields.
rasmustobiasen
Thanks. My total budget is around 1300 pound equivalent to 2000$. I have looked at the laptops on this site: http://www.box.co.uk/products/cat/Computing%7eB%7eLaptops%7eB%7eLaptops/sort/1/refine/m~ASUS$m~LENOVO$46562~144409$46565~144435$46563~67690$m~Gigabyte$46563~144433$46563~67704$46562~144415 I am going to use Vray most of the time and maybe Mental Ray sometimes. Size and weight is also important for me as I am moving it everyday.
numerobis
I would wait a few days longer until the new Skylake models (i5/7 6x00) are available, incl. a few percent more speed, (allegedly) much longer battery life , DDR4, USB 3.1, Tunderbolt 3.0, ... rasmustobiasen
Numerobis, would i be able to pay for that within my budget. And when should these models be ready to purchase? My budget is around 2000$. Edited September 3, 2015 by rasmustobiasen
numerobis
I think the first models schould be available within the the next weeks, but i don't know exactly. I saw something from Asus or MSI for the end of the month. Normally they shouldn't be more expensive, because they are replacing older models within the same classes.
