stayinwonderland
Not quite sure if this is a vray question or 3ds max. I often have a model with tons of multi/subobject materials. And I might want the whole object to have one ID col and render out a material ID in Vray for that object. I notice that you can set the ID for the multi/subobject but Vray doesn't notice it, only IDs for the individual materials. Any tips?
Francisco Penaloza
Not sure about the question, but you can set Mat ID, with default Max number 1-15 and in V-Ray properties beyond 15. Besides that you can set Objects ID. so for instance you can have a car with multy mats ID but the whole car can use a single Object ID. You also have the option of wireframe ID. So you can make the whole mesh of one single color mesh, this will give you a separate ID channel, then you can assign a Object ID and different multi sub mats ID. Hope this help. stayinwonderland
Ah cool! So the solution was to set the object ID in regular max properties for that object and then add VrayObjectID to the render output (I was looking for it in VrayMaterialID output).
