Rendering multiple products in a single scene

Hey guys, I am kind of stuck and in need of assistance. Anything you can throw at me will be greatly appreciated!

So, the problem is that I have preped a scene with 10 different products that are all set in the same studio set-up.

My initial plan was to use State Sets to show individual products and then by using 3ds Max's native Batch Render I would tie those in to render one by one automatically.

Essentially I'd be saying State Set 1 show product A and Batch Render it out. Once that is done the thing should move on to the next one.

The catch is that the Batch Renderer is using Scene Sets instead of State Sets and my whole workflow is now flawed as I need to manually press render for every product.

I am open to any solutions and suggestions. Needless to say this is my first time running into this type of an issue as usually I don't do as many product shots in one take :)

Thanks!

And I found the solution :) I am writing it down for any future "lost souls"...

The trick is to use the Scene Sets manager located under Tools -> Manage Scene Sets. You then set up the scene sets like you did with the State Sets and just use the Batch Render to render everything out (the Batch Render can render Scene Sets but not State Sets).

What led me astray at first was my really bad checkup on the state of the Scene Sets function as I thought it was outdated and more or less just a legacy function.

Hope it helps!

Another option may be to make a file with multiple frames.

For example:

10 different products in the scene.

Create a 10 Frames file (Time Configuration dialog box). Make each of the products visible only in one frame.

Then, you can very simply move from one product to the next. Rendering an animation 0-9 would quickly give you renders of all 10 products.

We do this regularly with textures on objects, using an IFL. We then change the frame to the textures we want to use.

I hope this helps someone.
