Vray Cpu vs Gpu - i7 6700k vs Titan X

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I need a new pc to rendering animation with 3dsmax. I need to know if to buy Titan x or a good Cpu.

From this benchmark

http://www.hardware.fr/articles/940-9/cpu-rendu-3d-mental-ray-v-ray.html

The same scene rendered in

i7 6700k 4,0Ghz 4-core --> 295s - 430€

i7 5820k 3,3Ghz 6-core --> 293s - 400€

i7 5960x 3,0Ghz 8-core --> 246s - 1060€

246s rather than 295s not worth 1060€

So I have 2 choices:

1-i7 6700k with GTX960 4gb

2-A cheaper Cpu and Titan X 12Gb (and to spend more money).

Titan X with VrayRT is really speeder than i7 6700k with Vray Irradiance map?

(I know this is unbiased vs biased, but animation with brute force on cpu is too slow)

I have the same dilemma too. i can't decide which render to invest CPU or GPU. i am currently considering dual xeon setup or 2 GTX Titan or whatever.. i am currently testing Vray RT with GTX 760 and i am not very happy with it :( .
