Joe Luckett
Hi, I currently work as a 3d visualiser at a D&B company. I'm thinking about moving jobs so i'm putting a portfolio together. However, i don't know what the rules are regarding the use of visuals. Firstly can I use visuals I've produced for my current company in my portfolio because obviously I don't own the rights to them? If so, do I need to watermark them or something? Can I get into trouble using them? Cheers
nodar1978
Hi I think you should ask always to the client or employer if you are able to use visuals in your portfolio, you can do this before or after the projects is done. Because it may be that 3D images are confidential and not for public. And ask them by e-mail, (written) so you can proof it later if there will be any questions from them. And the best is if you ask them in advance, to use your logo or mention your name if images will be published in future somewhere. this you can use in your portfolio later and a publication. I have a same problem right now, I didn't do this on time, and now i saw many of my 3D art were published in magazines and catalogs, there is no my name there, and I don't know if I may use it or not as my published portfolio, So I'm contacting them one by one to ask permission to use it as my work good luck Nodar
