Morne Erasmus
Hi all Very old threads are suggesting Rhino > dwg and then import the dwg into Max is the best workflow. Any newer info on this? Dwg and 3ds works, I was just wondering if anybody has a "best method" kind of thing that ideally will keep all UVs and bring in the textures etc (keeping in mind I may have to go through a few design iterations by re-exporting the Rhino files
Scott Schroeder
I would probably do dwg and use the file link in Max so you can keep all of your materials assigned in Max each time you update the link.
Simon Moir
I've tried loads of things, settled on: 1. Export to dwg, make sure Rhino converts all geometry to meshes in the export options. I usually set the quality / density all the way up. Seems to do a better job of meshing Rhino models than Max. 2. In Max, apply a UVW Mapscaler modifier, set it to 1m. 3. I often use auto edge to clean up the viewport. Everything is mapped Real-World Scale and on layers, but I've had no luck keeping the link live or grabbing textures. Nic H
rhino - max is a total nightmare as simon said - export to high res DWG and then remodel it all.
