Ernest Burden III
Hard to like this building, hard NOT to like this rendering: Damn, that's good. DBOX. The article: http://www.6sqft.com/432-park-in-numbers-new-renderings-and-superlatives-will-blow-you-away/ There is a point made that the animation cost " $1,000,000: The cost of 432 Park’s four-minute-long marketing video. That’s $250,000 a minute " Something to shoot for. I can't say I would have thought to put a fish on a counter: As usual, DBOX hits it out of the park, and into orbit. Sketchrender
Is that structurally possible ? I doubt it, time will tell. There is a reason ratio's exist in structural design. I would say the wind factor alone is a serous concern. Phil

Sketchrender
Chris I know, but I don't see it not having major flaws in the structure. The height to width ration is just not correct. Building it is one thing, it staying up for the next 100 years with out flaws , that's what I would like to see. It's a really beauty, don't get me wrong , I love the interior, $1 million dollars for the animation, the images are gorgeous. I would love to see their work flow and settings. phil
augustobohm
Geezus, what a great render!! I think it is the best render i've ever saw, i'm not saying about realism, but the feeling in the image makes it so cool.
Chris MacDonald
Phil, are you a structural engineer?
Ernest Burden III
Phil, are you a structural engineer? Well I am ... not. The building has no right to be a freestanding structure. It looks like it should topple over any day now, but there it is. I recall there is an issue with the concrete cracking, and a costly repair going on, but the tower stands. It is an awful addition to a generally great skyline. But there are so many 1000 foot towers being built in that part of NYC that skyline is being radically redefined. Obviously I posted about the collection of amazing renderings, especially that backlit cityscape. That is one of the best renderings I have ever seen. Chris MacDonald
I think it's a stunning addition to the skyline, far better than that monstrosity Ghery produced, and the one that Bjarke Ingels is proposing. Just be thankful Vinoly designed that slender tower, and not that fat, ugly, bulbous looking "walkie talkie" building we got from him in London. Sketchrender
No, but have been in the architectural field and worked on enough projects to have an opinion, and that's all it is. You know , what they say, Opinions are like as* h*les, everybody has one.
Scott Schroeder
I'd be curious to know where some of the art direction came from and how the process worked. I get the ballerina for the most part, as her poses mimic the form of the overall structure. But this one? Is that supposed to represent what it would look like if you wanted to take a poo in front of the window?
Derek Forreal
i'll play devil's advocate here... the first render posted here is a photo isn't it (albeit a great one), with just 432 Park superimposed? nothing wrong with that of course but if so i think calling it a render pushes the definition of 'render' almost as much as the slenderness ratio of the building pushes the laws of physics in the second render (the one with the fish), though again fantastic, i'd question the story here... i often read here how a render should tell a story but what's the story here? someone's left some raw fish and veg on the counter and the kettle's on the hob but the hob's off. Francisco Penaloza
Well yes the building looks very tall and skinny, but we need to consider that materials and construction techniques have evolved a lot, so what was impossible to build before, now is just simple to do. It is know that build such tall tower is not that efficient, it is more a prof of concept or show off type of construction. But with the price of the square footage in that area I don't blame them try to build as height as they can. The ballerinas are an interesting add to the publicity indeed, that squad position it is funny in deed, but that is a final shot? or a crop of the over all video? You know sometimes you have all best intentions to do a project like this one, but after dealing with Owners, Designers contractor and all their wife, your final project usually en up like a Frankenstein. But I doubt DBOX will let that happen to them... well too much over all great presentation IMHO lots to learn from them for sure.
Rich O
Leaving raw fish on the countertop like that is unhygienic and a breeding ground for salmonella. But yeah, agree with everyone else.
Andres Saarnak
I googled ballerina poses and you can take pretty much any pose and ask a similar (funny) question. But it doesn´t look too weird to me, it looks good in my opinion and more so with a whole set. Even though this dancing on the window frame itself doesn´t make much sense... And this is what I think about the "tell the story" stuff- I tend to break it down the same way and all I´m left with is "someone left her party shoes next to a messy bed in her otherwise extremely clean and empty bedroom and then took a photo of the situation". So I think it doesn´t matter much if you break it down to "someone left some raw fish..." or "someone left some pizza...", but I guess it´s more about what lifestyle a buyer of this apartment would associate him/herself with more. Anyway, my reasoning is mostly very straightforward- table looks..well..too empty-> let´s find something to but on the table PS. What´s not unhygienic?
