Julio Verani
Hello friends, First of all, sorry if this isn't the right spot to post about it, but somehow i can't create any threads in the tips section so... here it goes! I'm searching for a while for a plugin, script or program that helps me create random maps or geometry for random natural stone, to apply into scene exteriors like gardens, poolside among many other uses. The following image illustrates the situation: AND It's really time consuming to draw, bake and model all the stones one by one (including the textures) so i found the Stone Placement Plugin from Alessandro Ardolino, and it gets close, but its not enough for my needs. Well, i really expect that someone knows something about it, will help me a LOT! Thanks in advance!
Msamir
I think this plugin will do what you want but its not free though http://www.vizpark.com/shop/omnitiles/ If buying a plugin is not an option try searching these maps maybe you'll find what you want http://www.textures.com/browse/rounded-messy/97699 Edited November 13, 2015 by MazenSamir
Julio Verani
Thanks for pointing me in this direction Mazen, the plugin looks pretty cool but as you said, i don't have the money to fund it, so, the other option is really good, but it puts me in the same spot again, i need a realistic tiling and with the textures i can have a guideline to ease the job, but the time consumed will be the same, but i appreciate your help, i really do! Lets wait a bit and see if someone pops with an alternativa. Thanks again my friend!
Francisco Penaloza
I also wish there was a simple solution for what you are looking for, but sadly there is none that I know of, unless you want to invest some money, in omni tiles or rail clone that can help you to generate something similar. Yes money is always tight, but if you are getting paid to do that rendering it is a good investment. The other way I think can generate something similar would be to use the generate topology tool in 3D Max. You can find it under polygon tools (see screenshot) that will cut your mesh with patterns, like hatch patterns in AutoCAD, then you could select faces extrude and apply different ID to give some random materials. It require some labor, like everything else but at least you don't have to cut manually. Best luck.
John Dollus
Rayfire for fragmentation works great for natural stone
Chris MacDonald
If budget is an issue I'd look at using something like Fracture Voronoi script to create some basic shapes and go from there with various mesh smoothing and noise modifiers, etc.
