philvanderloo
I have a downloaded cgaxis interior scene that has a bookshelf full of books. I'm trying to merge these books into another interior scene. The books come in ok but the maps don't. Even after using relink bitmaps. In the original file, I see that the maps for all of the book covers are separate cgaxis models and they are not coming with the books on the merge. Nor are they available to select when I try to merge the books into the new scene. The [books] are in brackets when I try to select them to merge. All of the book cover bitmaps are in the same folder. What's the solution? Thanks
Francisco Penaloza
Maybe there are created in a different version of Max and when you open the scene still think that know the path, but actually they are not linked. Usually what does the trick is, open the original scene, then save it with a new name, close Max, then open max with the new scene, then it may tell you all the missing links, if not, fire up relink bitmap, it should show all missing links, then relink all maps, save you scene and then merge in your working scene. When the object are enclosed by brackets it mean they are a group. You can explode the group if you like, but it may help you to keep everything more organized. Hope this works. ludnid
Add paths for downloaded libraries into max so textures load up whenever merged. Head to customise, user paths and add the textures path. Its a lot easier to do this just once and load directly from that set than having to merge from a scene where you've included a few. jensandersen
Hi Phil I've encountered this problem too with the "Relink Bitmaps" script. The path to where the maps are located is correct, but for some reason it doesn't work in some rare cases. If you know the folder path and are certain that the files are correctly named, just press Shift+T, update the Asset tracking list, mark all the bitmaps of the books missing, right click, "Set Path" and type/paste/browse the correct path. Best of luck.
