Morne Erasmus
Hi all What do you guys think of the WD EX2 NAS enclosure, 2 X 4 TB WD Green drives? For project folders and asset library? (I can get it for a good deal, possibly even WD EX2100 with 2 X WD Green 4TB) Normally I would get Red drives, but the green ones are on special locally! Yay or nay? Stephen Thomas
Not sure if you've bought these already or not, but a quick look at the product page shows that green drives are not compatible. http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1180#Tab2&Tab9
Stephen Thomas
I recently bought a Synology DS215j with WD Reds after having my eye on one for ages. A 2-bay NAS with remote access is definitely a good purchase. I've been enjoying it a lot so far. Haven't noticed any lag in file saving etc. and the ability to access files remotely has been a lifesaver on a couple of occasions. Along with a 5-port Gigabit plus switch, the home office is working quite well now
RyderSK
Not sure where I've read that regular WD RED (As opposed to RED PRO, which are different altogether) are just re-wired Greens. It might work, and if not, you can use WIDDLE3 utility and set them to work similarly (and pretend to be) Reds. But I wouldn't got this trouble and just use the correct ones right away as Stephen suggested.
